FAQ’s

How does the cascade lifestyle course work?

  1. Learn in Lecture & Lab

Inspired by higher education coursework, the Cascade Lifestyle Course enrolls personal training clients in small groups of participants. Virtual lecture and lab are held weekly (~90 min). During these sessions, clients learn core concepts of exercise and lifestyle management through traditional classroom instruction and practical application in labs. Individual coaching sessions are scheduled to give each client the individual attention they need to succeed in this program.

  2. Empowering Exercise

Teachings in the Cascade Lifestyle Course are driven by the education and application of resistance training. Clients independently complete workouts at home and a gym or fitness center.

  3. Lifestyle Events

Cascade Lifestyle hosts in-person events for each cohort in order to foster a community environment and provide a complete education to each of our clients. Our lifestyle events are held in Buffalo, NY.

  4. Connect Online

Clients are given access to our private drive which is only available to current and previous Cascade Lifestyle participants. The drive contains all of the course material including: presentations, class recordings, exercise programming and the Cascade Lifestyle exercise video library

What’s not included with the enrollment fee?

A gym membership.

Resistance Training is the most modifiable form of exercise. As virtual personal trainers, we need the ability to manipulate and/or control exercise variables remotely. To ensure all clients have access to the same types of equipment (free weights; dumbbells, barbells, and loading plates), enrollment in the Cascade Lifestyle Course requires a gym membership with access to this equipment. We encourage our clients to think of this as renting the tools necessary to learn new lifestyle skills. After completion, clients are equipped to exercise where they choose; whether that be at home or in a gym.

A meal plan.

The topic of food and nutrition is often extremely personal and unique to the individual. Instead of a meal plan, we offer dietary guidance and mindset management tools to empower students to make their own eating decisions. Suggestions are made throughout the course using the food puzzle (see below) and our system of feedback signals. This is a long process for most people, and we recommend that anyone that tends towards unhealthy eating patterns or body-shaming thought patterns reach out for help and/or consider seeking a qualified therapist.

Can I enroll in this course without previous exercise experience?

YES! This course is designed to teach clients how to exercise and manage their health without previous experience or the need for an exercise science degree. The Cascade Lifestyle trainers are most passionate about bringing this education to complete newbies – young and old!

Do I need clearance from my Doctor to participate?

We encourage each of our clients to consult their primary care physician before enrolling in our courses. The requirements for medical clearance are assessed on an individual basis before course enrollment approval.
